FINALLY! I think I spent as much time trying to get this to fit on the page as I did writing it. Holy Cow! I removed two columns that really weren't important for our purposes here so that it would fit properly. One was that I am responsible for the actions of each step in the process, shared at times with my department.

ReplyDeleteI think your plan is great - inline with mine to some degree http://5301researchproject.blogspot.com . My worry with mine is that it will be too intensive (too many goals.) I have the same concern with yours. I REALLY LIKE your idea. But after studying the contexts of our materials, I suggest you may want to focus in on a couple outcomes and not hit all of them? Just a suggestion. It helped me see a path for mine a little better.

Jay- I think you did a great job with this. Honestly, I don't have any suggestions for you other than you may want to compare grades from a class that did not implement the i-pad to the class that did and see if grades are significantly different. It looks good and it looks like you will already have a lot of data to work with.

Hi Jay- New Braunfels ISD just approved, this past Spring, a 1-to-1 iPad initiative for their freshman campus starting in the fall. Every freshman will have an iPad issued to them by the school. They may have a lot of data currently on file that helped them come to that decision. May be of help.....may not. Districts Website - www.nbisd.org

Hope this helps!
Jay, I think that this is a great idea. How do you plan to complete your interviews and questions? I am doing something similar and hope to use Google Docs to allow people to go and leave responses instead of trying to track down enough data to make my results meaningful. How do you feel about students bringing their own devices, such as IPADs or IPODS and linking in and taking home their work?
ReplyDeleteI am plannign on doing a Google search for schools usign this type of technology. I want to contact as many school principals as possible and request a few staff members to contact. I was thinking of attaching a questionnaire to an email for them. I'll have to look into Google Docs. I've never heard of that.
DeleteOur students won't have to bring their own because my district is issuing them an iPad to take to and from school for the year. I think the possibilities are endless.
Jay,
ReplyDeleteGreat job with your action research plan. I like the topic of iPad integration into classrooms, as it is timely and highly relevant. Keep working hard, and I know you'll achieve all your research goals.
Thanks!
